From what to wear to how the weather call works, here's what most people ask before they fly.
The flight itself is approximately an hour. Plan for roughly three hours total. That includes arriving at the launch site, the flight, the return drive back, and the champagne toast afterward.
We launch just after sunrise because that's when the wind is calmest. It's the safest and smoothest time of day to fly.
Just your group. We don't combine separate parties in the same basket.
Our basket holds two people per flight. For larger groups, we can arrange multiple balloons flying together.
Yes, for sure! Since every flight is private to your group, a proposal fits right in. Just let us know when you book, and we'll help however we can.
Mornings start cool and warm up fast, so dress in layers you can shed as you go. Wear closed-toe shoes, since the grass is often wet with dew, and bring sunglasses for once the sun's up. Don't forget a camera.
You'll need to be able to climb into the basket. It's about waist-high, and a step stool is provided if needed. There's a bench inside, so you don't have to stand for the whole flight. The minimum age is 5, and there's no maximum age as long as you're in good health. For safety, we're not able to fly passengers who are pregnant, have broken bones, or have had recent surgery.
Tips are never expected, but they're genuinely appreciated. Our crew is up before sunrise to set up, chases the balloon during the flight, then handles the pack up afterward. It's a lot of work, and tips go directly to them.
We provide transportation back to the launch site once the flight is complete.
Your pilot contacts you the day before with the exact meeting time and location. Meeting time is generally just after sunrise, and the launch location depends on the winds that morning.
We fly year round, as the weather permits. Ballooning is entirely weather dependent, so availability on any given day comes down to conditions rather than the season.
Ballooning is fully weather-dependent. We aim to make the go/no-go call the night before, though sometimes it comes the morning of. The pilot has final discretion on safety grounds, and any flight cancelled for weather is rescheduled.
With 72 hours' notice or more, we'll refund your payment minus any processing fees. With less than 72 hours' notice, we're not able to offer a refund, but we're always happy to reschedule your flight to a new date. Flights cancelled for weather receive a full refund if rescheduling isn't possible. Gift certificates are non-refundable.
